Dnepr rocket

The Dnepr rocket is a space launch vehicle named after the Dnieper River.

It is a converted ICBM used for launching artificial satellites into orbit, operated by the launch service provider ISC Kosmotras. The first launch, on April 21, 1999, successfully placed UoSAT-12, a 350 kg demonstration mini-satellite, into a 650 km circular Low Earth orbit.

The Dnepr is based on the R-36MUTTH ICBM – called the SS-18 Satan by NATO.

It was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in both California, USA, and Canada in 2002.

Ecliptic Enterprises

Ecliptic Enterprises is an American company that creates on-board imaging systems for use with rockets, spacecraft, and other remote platforms. It is based in Pasadena, Calif., USA.

Ecliptic Enterprises also provides cost-effective space-access solutions for small space payloads. 

The activities of Ecliptic Enterprises encompass:

  • imaging and sensor technology for spacecraft,
  • small secondary, payload technologies,
  • space transportation technologies.

SETI Institute

The mission of the SETI Institute is to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe. The acronym SETI means Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence.

The SETI Institute is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to scientific research, education and public outreach.

The Institute comprises three centers, the Center for SETI Research, the Carl Sagan Center for the Study of Life in the Universe and the Center for Education and Public Outreach. It was founded in 1984.

GEOSS

The Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) will provide decision-support tools to a wide variety of users. It will proactively link together existing and planned observing systems around the world and support the development of new systems where gaps currently exist.

It is being built (in 2012) by the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), on the basis of a 10-Year Implementation Plan running from 2005 to 2015. 

GEOSS seeks to connect the producers of environmental data and decision-support tools with the end users of these products, with the aim of enhancing the relevance of Earth observations to global issues. The result is to be a global public infrastructure that generates comprehensive, near-real-time environmental data, information and analyses for a wide range of users.

HISPASAT Group

  • An American position at 61º East, where the Amazonas 1 y 2 satellites, and
  • An oriental position at 29º East, in which the Xtar-Eur satellite is located.
