European Union Satellite Centre
The European Union Satellite Centre (EUSC), commonly known as SATCEN, is an agency of the European Union's Council of Ministers which gathers information through satellite images.
The mission of the European Union Satellite Centre (EU SatCen) is to support the decision-making of the European Union by providing analysis of satellite imagery and collateral data. The staff of the centre consists of experienced image analysts, geospatial specialists and supporting personnel from EU member countries. The centre is located in Torrejón de Ardoz, in the vicinity of Madrid, Spain.
EUSC was set up in 2002 to replace the Western European Union Satellite Centre and thus represents a part of the transfer of functions from the Western European Union (WEU) to the European Union (EU), and more specifically to the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP).
