Starlab Space LLC has appointed Leidos to direct U.S.-based assembly, integration, and testing activities for its new commercial space station. Leidos will assemble and integrate station modules, ensuring their compatibility and verifying systems performance at facilities in Alabama. The agreement includes responsibilities for safety, mission assurance, and systems engineering, supporting Starlab's readiness to serve NASA, commercial users, and international partners following the retirement of the International Space Station.
Marshall Smith, Starlab CEO, stated, "As we move quickly from design to development and into real-time operations, Leidos brings the proven execution and domain expertise needed to help us deliver a safe and operational station." Leidos will also provide ground logistics, crew support, and training infrastructure.
Starlab Space LLC is a consortium led by Voyager Technologies, Airbus, Mitsubishi Corporation, MDA Space, Palantir Technologies, and Space Applications Services, working with partners including Hilton, Journey, Northrop Grumman, and The Ohio State University. The station project focuses on developing AI-enabled platforms for low-Earth orbit science and microgravity research.
