DefendEye has announced the integration of Starlink Mini into its tube-launched autonomous AI-powered search drone system, delivering global satellite connectivity without reliance on cellular infrastructure. The embedded Starlink Mini allows users to deploy the drone in virtually any location while maintaining encrypted high-definition video streaming to operations centers and mobile devices.
This upgrade positions DefendEye's system as a powerful tool for search-and-rescue, law enforcement and defense missions in remote or disconnected environments. The drone also supports 4G/5G as an alternative connection mode.
Weighing under 250 grams, the platform operates without the need for pilot licensing in most jurisdictions. The drone is launched from a compact tube in less than 10 seconds and flies autonomously, guided by an onboard 2 TOPS neural processor that enables real-time human detection and tracking in all conditions.
The live video feed is encrypted and streamed via DefendEye Cloud, offering immediate access and archival without local storage needs. At just $599 per unit, the system enables agencies to scale rapidly without significant training or infrastructure investments.
"Embedding Starlink Mini inside our launch-tube removes the last barrier to true go-anywhere aerial awareness," said James Buchheim, CEO of DefendEye. "First responders, search-and-rescue teams and military units can now deploy our drones in the most remote locations, push live video to any control room, and even trigger launches from the other side of the planet."
DefendEye is currently providing demonstrations to select customers, with orders open now. Shipments of fully integrated kits will begin in September 2025.
