Carbice, known for its advanced thermal management solutions, has announced a new partnership with Swiss satellite manufacturer SWISSto12 to supply its Carbice Space Pad to the innovative HummingSat platform. This collaboration aims to address the escalating thermal challenges of compact, high-performance geostationary satellites.
As satellite systems grow increasingly powerful while shrinking in size, managing heat in orbit becomes a critical engineering hurdle. The Carbice Space Pad provides a sustainable solution, proven to efficiently dissipate heat across both Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) environments. It enables stable performance and structural integrity for microelectronics onboard satellites like HummingSat.
"We are delighted to partner with Carbice to strengthen our supply chain for our innovative HummingSat," said Paolo Mori, Space Procurement Specialist at SWISSto12. "Strong collaborations are key to success in the challenging space environment, and we look forward to this journey together."
HummingSat redefines conventional satellite economics, offering high performance and extended mission lifespans at significantly lower cost and mass than traditional GEO satellites. Its compact size translates to reduced launch expenses and enables broader access to space-based communications for services such as mobility, broadcast, broadband, and governmental use.
"Our partnership with SWISSto12 supports an entirely new class of geostationary satellites," said Rafael Spears, General Manager, Global Aerospace and Defense at Carbice. "Our Space Pad will provide manufacturability flexibility, enabling ease of integration and assembly needed to scale next-generation satellite programs like HummingSat efficiently and reliably."
Carbice has steadily expanded its footprint across aerospace and defense markets, offering thermal interface materials that support rapid integration, predictable thermal performance, and multiple-use reliability. Its technology has been adopted in various satellite constellations and is prized for reducing both manufacturing time and cost.
