Hexagon has announced its agreement to acquire Septentrio NV, a prominent OEM provider of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies. This acquisition is set to advance innovation and expand access to Resilient Assured Positioning solutions across diverse industries.

By integrating Septentrio's state-of-the-art GNSS platform with Hexagon's extensive suite of positioning technologies-including sensor fusion, anti-jamming capabilities, correction services, and perception technologies-the collaboration aims to deliver enhanced positioning solutions. These technologies will provide high accuracy and performance while maintaining low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) characteristics. Such developments are expected to accelerate the adoption of autonomous systems in established markets while addressing the demands of emerging high-growth sectors like robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and other mission-critical applications.

Septentrio, known for its innovative solutions and customer-centric approach, will continue its current business model under Hexagon, supplying advanced GNSS technology to its extensive base of OEM clients.

"The combination of Hexagon and Septentrio will transform the positioning industry across existing and new markets, setting new standards for the accuracy, resilience, and scalability of positioning technologies, necessary to support and accelerate the journey towards full autonomy," said Norbert Hanke, interim President and CEO of Hexagon AB.

Headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, Septentrio employs approximately 150 people and is expected to generate over 50 million EUR in revenue by 2024, demonstrating robust growth rates and profitability consistent with the Hexagon Group. Post-acquisition, Septentrio will operate within Hexagon's Autonomous Solutions division. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and other customary conditions, with finalization anticipated in the first half of 2025.
