XTEND, a leading provider of AI-powered autonomy and tactical drone solutions, has secured an $8.8 million contract with the U.S. Department of Defense's Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate (IWTSD). The agreement focuses on delivering Precision Strike Indoor and Outdoor (PSIO) small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS).
The PSIO sUAS platform is a cutting-edge advancement in tactical drone technology, being the first system approved by the U.S. DoD for use as a loitering munition in both indoor and outdoor settings. Employing advanced artificial intelligence, the system enables real-time, high-precision strike capabilities with limited human input. Designed for seamless deployment in urban and open-field environments, these drones enhance mission success while reducing risks for military personnel.
Following rigorous live-fire tests and comprehensive safety evaluations, XTEND's system earned approval under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Manufacturing will take place within the United States, with initial deliveries anticipated in the first quarter of 2025.
"We are honored to strengthen our partnership with IWTSD," said Aviv Shapira, Founder and CEO of XTEND. "The live-fire tests demonstrated the precision, reliability, and operational superiority of our Scorpio PSIO sUAS solution. This contract validates our technology's ability to address the complex challenges faced by modern defense forces."
Proven AI-Driven Tactical Superiority
The PSIO sUAS represents the result of two years of collaborative development with IWTSD. Its proven track record in global conflicts underscores its capabilities as a highly effective loitering munition. As a trusted operational tool of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the system combines advanced AI with precision features, allowing military teams to handle demanding missions efficiently.Related Links
