Sidus Space (NASDAQ: SIDU) has finalized launch preparations for LizzieSat-2 at the Astrotech Space Operations facility in Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. The satellite is now in SpaceX's custody, poised for deployment on the Bandwagon-2 rideshare mission, scheduled for December 2024.
LizzieSat-2, built at Sidus Space's cutting-edge Florida Space Coast facility, integrates an advanced suite of sensors. These include AIS for maritime tracking, multi-spectral methane detection, and high-resolution visual sensors. Notably, the satellite carries the HEO Holmes Imager, a sophisticated technology from HEO (USA), an Australian HEO subsidiary. This imager powers the HEO Inspect platform, designed for in-orbit satellite inspections and precise space object analysis. Under a subscription agreement, LizzieSat-2 will deliver data for HEO, underscoring Sidus Space's growing influence in space-based data services.
Powered by Sidus Space's proprietary FeatherEdge AI processor, LizzieSat-2 is equipped to conduct on-orbit data processing. This enables applications such as Space Situational Awareness (SSA), environmental monitoring, disaster response, maritime tracking, and non-Earth imaging, offering valuable real-time insights.
"LizzieSat-2 represents the next evolution of our modular satellite platform, showcasing its adaptability to host both Sidus-developed sensors and customer payloads, such as the HEO Holmes Imager," said Carol Craig, CEO of Sidus Space. "This milestone highlights our commitment to delivering innovative, flexible and cost-effective solutions that address the diverse and evolving needs of our customers. We are excited to expand our on-orbit presence and delivery of critical, near real-time data services."
The upcoming launch of LizzieSat-2 strengthens Sidus Space's ability to offer scalable and actionable space-based data solutions. By merging advanced sensor technology, efficient on-orbit processing, and data-as-a-service capabilities, the satellite supports critical applications across defense, government, intelligence, and commercial industries worldwide.
