Telesat (NASDAQ and TSX: TSAT), a major satellite operator, has entered into a US$39 million agreement with SatixFy Communications Ltd. ("SatixFy") (NYSE American: SATX), a developer of advanced satellite communication technologies, to design and supply Landing Station Baseband Units for Telesat's Lightspeed Network.
Under the agreement, SatixFy will develop the baseband systems that facilitate seamless, high-speed data transfer between Telesat's Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Lightspeed satellites and terrestrial Landing Stations. Delivery of these units is scheduled over a 28-month timeframe.
The Telesat Lightspeed constellation aims to deliver global, low-latency, high-speed broadband, targeting the connectivity needs of enterprise and government clients. This contract value includes both equipment costs and one-time engineering charges, with an initial payment of US$5 million made to SatixFy in a prior reporting period.
