Sidus Space (NASDAQ: SIDU) has successfully passed the critical design review (CDR) for its LizzieSat NL, a laser communication satellite developed under a contract with The Netherlands Organization (TNO). This key achievement confirms the technical framework for the satellite's design and triggers a milestone payment as part of the multimillion-dollar agreement.

The completion of the CDR secures the technical baseline for the LizzieSat NL, marking its readiness to move forward with the manufacturing, assembly, system integration, and testing phases. This milestone brings the program closer to showcasing TNO's HemiCAT, a highly efficient miniature communications laser terminal, which will be integrated into Sidus Space's hybrid 3D-printed satellite platform, LizzieSat. Under the agreement with TNO, Sidus will handle all aspects of HemiCAT's integration, deployment, and on-orbit operations.

"We are thrilled to achieve this critical milestone in the LizzieSat NL program, which not only advances our partnership with TNO but also demonstrates the value of our adaptable solutions and positions us at the forefront of innovation," said Carol Craig, CEO of Sidus Space. "This milestone brings Sidus closer to harnessing the transformative power of laser communications, significantly improving data transfer rates and unlocking new opportunities for our customers."

Laser technology offers satellite operators substantially higher bandwidth compared to traditional radio frequency systems, increasing data transmission capacity by up to 100 times. This advancement supports applications such as persistent surveillance and Earth imaging, enabling real-time data access and faster response capabilities.
