Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing [NYSE: BA] company, has been awarded an Other Transaction Agreement from the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command to supply an additional set of six Missile Track Custody (MTC) satellites. These satellites are part of the Resilient Missile Warning and Tracking Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) Epoch 1 program.

Under the new agreement, Millennium Space Systems is now contracted to provide two sets of satellites, totaling 12 MTC satellites, along with the necessary ground system and mission operations support.

"MTC is critical to our nation's resilient missile warning, tracking and defense architecture, and a second plane gets us that much closer to global coverage," said Michelle Parker, vice president, Boeing Space Mission Systems. "Our ability to deliver is enabled by our bus and payload designs, as well as our achievement of critical milestones on rapid timelines."

The satellites will be equipped with Boeing's advanced electro-optical infrared payload, featuring cutting-edge sensor technology. This enables high-resolution tracking and custody capabilities from MEO, providing real-time data processing to reduce response time between threat detection and action.

Earlier this year, Millennium Space Systems also completed the critical design review of the ground system for the MTC program.

"Small satellite proliferation has a fundamentally different ground concept than traditional systems," explained Lindsay Dewald, MTC program manager at Millennium Space Systems. "We developed an automated mission operations approach, enabling both real-time and pre-planned tasking."

The ground system will seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure and leverage mission-unique software to automate tasks, allowing operators to focus on more strategic activities.
