Q-Tech Corporation, a global leader in space-qualified crystal oscillators and frequency control solutions, has unveiled the QT8220 Series, the industry's first multiple-output temperature-controlled crystal oscillators (TCXOs) qualified for full space applications. Each QT8220 device provides two to four CMOS outputs, packaged in a hermetically sealed 32-pin Flatpack, offering substantial benefits in Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) compared to using multiple single-output TCXOs to achieve similar functionality.
The QT8220 Series supports 3.3V or 5.0V supply options and operates at frequencies ranging from 20MHz to 100MHz. These TCXOs deliver stability between +/-0.5 to 4.0ppm over a broad temperature range of -40 C to +85 C. They also exhibit high radiation resistance (>100kRad(Si) total ionizing dose and >85MeV-cm/mg single event latch-up) along with low phase noise and jitter. All QT8220 units undergo stringent screening and quality inspections to meet MIL-PRF-55310, Level S standards.
"Our quad-output CMOS TCXOs allow for clocking multiple components, such as FPGAs, with just one oscillator, eliminating the need for several separate oscillators," explained Scott Sentz, Q-Tech's VP of Sales and Marketing. "Being the first multiple-output, space-qualified TCXOs, the QT8220 Series provides unmatched SWaP advantages in challenging space environments."
