A partnership of three UK universities has chosen GomSpace to support the development of a satellite mission under a contract valued at 3.6 million SEK. The collaboration, which includes universities from the Space South Central region covering Surrey and Hampshire, is part of the Joint Universities Programme for In-orbit Training, Education, and Research (JUPITER).

Their upcoming project, Jovian-1, is a satellite mission featuring five payloads, with one payload being designed and developed entirely by students. This initiative is aimed at enhancing student skills and employability in the space sector.

With a limited timeframe to deliver the mission, the university consortium sought a partner who could meet stringent deadlines without compromising the mission's quality. GomSpace's standardized platforms, industrial processes, and well-established manufacturing capabilities positioned the company as an ideal fit to meet these demands. The contract will see GomSpace support the assembly, integration, and testing phases for the Jovian-1 satellite while maintaining a critical timeline.

"Once again, our standardization and ability to react quickly are addressing our partner's challenges. This is what we believe to be our value: delivering solutions that allow our customers to work comfortably. With our platform kits, 17 years of manufacturing experience, and extensive in-orbit product heritage, we can fast-track projects without compromising quality or increasing risk.

"Fulfilling our customers' ambitions is extremely rewarding, and I would like to thank the three Space South Central universities for their trust," said Henrik Kalstrup, Vice President of the Products business unit at GomSpace.
