Peraton, a U.S.-based national security company and IT provider, has partnered with Rivada Space Networks to offer a secure low earth orbit (LEO) network to support U.S. government mission-critical communications worldwide.
Peraton has been leveraging first-generation LEO constellations for its operations, and this collaboration with Rivada Space Networks will bring the latest secure space technology into their services. This partnership ensures Peraton's customers can access cutting-edge advancements in space-based communication solutions.
Rivada's "Outernet" is a global LEO satellite constellation that forms a fully interconnected network. With 600 satellites, the Outernet uses inter-satellite laser links and advanced onboard processing, creating an optical mesh network that keeps data in space from source to destination. This ensures secure communications with lower latency than traditional terrestrial networks over long distances. The network's separation from terrestrial systems adds an additional layer of security for organizations with sensitive, widespread communication needs.
"We are committed to delivering state-of-the-art technology solutions to the U.S. government," said Chris Valentino, chief innovation officer at Peraton. "The Outernet not only strengthens global digital infrastructure but also opens up new avenues for innovation to meet the evolving needs of U.S. government missions." Valentino added, "By tapping into this independent global network, we can offer enhanced security, performance, and global reach."
Declan Ganley, CEO of Rivada Space Networks, commented, "We are excited to work with Peraton to enhance their service offerings for national security, intelligence, federal, and commercial customers. Rivada's Outernet, unlike traditional LEO systems, provides a fully interconnected, private space network that redefines connectivity in terms of security, latency, and efficiency. It's becoming the preferred choice for secure data communications."
