Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Terran Orbital Corporation (NYSE: LLAP) based in Irvine, California, has been awarded a $254 million prototype agreement by the Space Development Agency (SDA) to manufacture 10 satellites for the Tranche 2 Transport Layer (T2TL) Gamma contract.

Under this contract, Terran Orbital will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the 10 T2TL Gamma satellites, utilizing its Ambassador platform. The company will handle the design, construction, integration, testing, and final delivery of the satellites. Additionally, Terran Orbital will manage the integration of the associated ground control system and oversee the Launch and Early Operations (LEOPs) phase.

The satellites will be equipped with payloads aimed at enhancing the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), which is designed to bolster future kill chain capabilities. The PWSA project envisions a large constellation of satellites in low-Earth orbit, with advanced capabilities in satellite communications, data transport, missile warning, and missile tracking.

The Gamma variant will share several core characteristics with other T2TL variants, including Beta. In earlier announcements, Terran Orbital disclosed its collaboration with Lockheed Martin to build 36 space vehicles for T2TL Beta and 18 for the T2 Tracking Layer. The company has already delivered 10 buses for the Tranche 0 Transport Layer and is in the process of manufacturing 42 buses for the Tranche 1 Transport Layer (T1TL), with launches expected in late 2024 and 2025.

"We are honored to have been chosen for this program. Our ongoing collaboration with the SDA across multiple Tranche iterations has been immensely rewarding, and we deeply value their continued trust in our capabilities," said Marc Bell, Chairman, Co-Founder, and Chief Executive Officer at Terran Orbital.
