Planet Labs PBC (NYSE: PL), a leading provider of daily Earth data and insights, has announced an extension of its contract with the Taylor Geospatial Institute (TGI) through 2026. This collaboration represents Planet's most extensive direct engagement with a university consortium. The multi-year agreement enables TGI to utilize various industry-leading products from Planet, including PlanetScope data, a comprehensive data archive, high-resolution SkySat data, and multiple Planetary Variable analytic products.
Established in 2022, TGI is a pioneering entity in the geospatial field, aimed at fostering research, collaboration, and impactful solutions. It unites a consortium of eight prominent universities and research centers to enhance collaboration within the geospatial ecosystem, leveraging unique strengths, expertise, and shared resources to drive innovative research and solutions.
Planet's data access allows TGI researchers to address national security and global food security challenges and advance geospatial science, computation, and AI initiatives. Additionally, Planet's data supports TGI's mission to educate the next generation of geospatial professionals.
