TrustPoint has secured a Phase II Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) contract from AFWERX, valued at $1.6 million, aimed at advancing resilient navigation technologies for the Department of the Air Force (DAF).
AFWERX, in collaboration with the Air Force Research Laboratory, has refined the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and STTR processes to expedite proposals, broaden applicant pools, and reduce bureaucratic overhead. These efforts have enhanced the efficiency of contract executions and increased accessibility for small businesses.
Since launching its Open Topic SBIR/STTR program in 2018, the DAF has expanded its support for a wider array of innovations. Starting April 2, 2024, TrustPoint will embark on developing capabilities to bolster U.S. national defense.
Patrick Shannon, CEO and Founder of TrustPoint, stated that this program represents a significant continuation of the U.S. Government's investment in TrustPoint's advanced Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) applications, which extend well beyond traditional GPS-based positioning.
TrustPoint is pioneering a state-of-the-art commercial GPS service using a next-generation C-Band Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation. This system is designed from the outset to meet stringent requirements for performance, security, and reliability, critical for autonomous navigation, essential infrastructure, and national security tasks.
