Tyvak International SRL, a subsidiary of Terran Orbital Corporation (NYSE: LLAP) located in Torino, Italy, announced its role in a major European Defense Agency (EDA) initiative. As a leading European nano and microsatellite provider, Tyvak International has been awarded a service subcontract for the EDA's Hub for EU Defense Innovation (HEDI) proof-of-concept prototype for 2023. This project focuses on exploring the capabilities of Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) satellites, representing a major advancement in military space technology.

The awarded contract initiates Phase A for the transition of spacecraft from LEO to VLEO, aiming for a Preliminary Design Review. In collaboration with CNIT, FlySight, and Politecnico di Milano, Tyvak International is set to lead the consortium in various capacities, including market analysis, component identification, requirement definitions based on the business case, and feasibility assessment for satellite development.

Fabio Nichele, CEO of Tyvak International, expressed enthusiasm about the company's key role in the EDA VLEO project, highlighting it as an opportunity to further their contributions to satellite technology and defense capabilities. "We are excited to support the European Defence Agency's mission objectives through this partnership," Nichele stated.

The involvement with the EDA underscores Tyvak International's commitment to advancing satellite technology. The partnership will focus on strategic defense applications such as Earth observation, in-space situational awareness, signal detection, and navigation warfare, aiming to enhance European defense mechanisms.
