In a new collaboration, the European Space Agency (ESA) and Samsung have unveiled Galaxy Time, the inaugural watch face designed to showcase our Solar System in unprecedented detail. Coinciding with the commencement of summertime in Europe on March 31, 2024, this innovative feature transforms Samsung smartwatches into a gateway to the cosmos, allowing users to experience time through the lens of our neighboring planets.

Galaxy Time is a fruit of the partnership between Samsung and ESA, aimed at enhancing the user experience by merging technology with the wonders of the universe. With Galaxy Time, individuals have the unique ability to view the time as it would appear on Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. This is made possible through real-time data provided by ESA, showcasing the planets' precise locations and distances from Earth.

Mario Winter, Vice President of Marketing at Samsung Electronics Germany, expressed his enthusiasm about the project, stating, "In collaboration with ESA, a leading authority in space exploration, we have crafted a watch face that invites Samsung Galaxy users to embark on a novel journey through our Solar System."

The collaboration between Samsung and ESA experts ensures the accuracy of the time displayed on each planet, taking into account the variation in the length of a day across different planets. For instance, a single day on Venus equals 243 Earth days. The watch face not only features the time on Earth but also includes separate dials for each planet, complete with engaging facts, the number of moons, and even the current seasonal weather conditions.

ESA's Branding and Partnerships Office views the launch of Galaxy Time as a significant step towards engaging the public with space science and fostering a deeper understanding of our place in the universe. The agency anticipates that this initiative will inspire a newfound appreciation for our planet and strengthen the connection between people and space.

The Galaxy Time watch face is now available in Germany as of March 31, 2024, and can be accessed through the German Google Play store. Space enthusiasts eager to display their fascination with the cosmos on their wrists are encouraged to explore this latest offering.
