ispace EUROPE S.A., a Luxembourg-based subsidiary of ispace, inc., has entered into a strategic memorandum of understanding with Control Data Systems SRL (CDS). This collaboration is aimed at developing localization and telecommunications technology to for Lunar applications in support of the quest for sustainable human presence and infrastructure development on Earth's natural satellite.

At the heart of this agreement lies the synergy between ispace's lunar transportation services and CDS's localization technology, which employs Ultra-Wideband for pinpoint position measurement. Developed with the support of the European Space Agency (ESA), this technology promises to enhance the precision of lunar surface exploration, a critical component for future missions aimed at long-term habitation and infrastructure development on the Moon.

Julien-Alexandre Lamamy, CEO of ispace EUROPE S.A., said, "Our collaboration with CDS exemplifies how ESA-supported innovations can access affordable and timely lunar demonstrations through our commercial services." He further emphasized ispace's unique position to offer unparalleled capabilities and services to customers not just in Europe but globally, underpinning the company's excitement about future lunar endeavors alongside CDS.

From CDS's perspective, the partnership with ispace represents a golden opportunity to field-test their advanced localization and communications technology in the lunar environment. According to Ovidiu Ratiu, Founder and CEO at CDS, this collaboration is a stepping stone into the emerging lunar economy, allowing them to fine-tune their technology to meet the evolving needs of lunar exploration.

The agreement also sets the stage for what could be the first Romanian payload on the lunar surface, a milestone that underscores the expanding international cooperation in space exploration. Both companies have initiated negotiations for future payload services that will deliver this technology to the Moon.

This partnership between ispace and CDS is another example of leveraging commercial services for space exploration. By combining ispace's lunar transportation skills with CDS's own technological solutions, the collaboration paves the way for innovative exploration strategies critical to a sustainable development of lunar infrastructure.
