In a groundbreaking collaboration, STORIES of Space, a visionary nonprofit dedicated to intertwining human narratives with the cosmos, has joined forces with Maritime Launch Services, the pioneering entity behind Canada's inaugural commercial spaceport, Spaceport Nova Scotia. This partnership heralds the upcoming STORIES Mission 03, slated for 2024, which aims to propel thousands of human stories into the vastness of space, directly from the heart of Canada.

STORIES Mission 03 distinguishes itself by placing a special emphasis on Canadian stories, in celebration of its launch from Spaceport Nova Scotia, the nation's first commercial spaceport. This initiative warmly invites individuals of all ages, alongside school and community groups, to contribute their narratives. A particular focus is placed on representing the rich tapestry of Canada's provinces and Indigenous nations, making it a truly inclusive mission. The deadline for story submissions, poised for a high-G suborbital journey, is set for May 31, 2024.

The essence of STORIES of Space lies in its unique approach to space exploration. By asking, "How can a story change the way we explore space?" the nonprofit seeks to intertwine the human element with the scientific and exploratory missions beyond our planet. The inaugural mission, launched on August 1, 2023, saw over 300 stories reach the International Space Station aboard a Northrop Grumman Cygnus spacecraft, symbolizing humanity's aspirations and dreams orbiting alongside astronauts.

Maritime Launch Services' ownership and operation of Spaceport Nova Scotia is not just about facilitating launches; it's about fostering a space economy hub in Canada. The facility is set to inspire young Canadians towards STEM careers, offering them a platform to innovate without leaving home shores. The spaceport's activities are expected to generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities and boost tourism and hospitality sectors across Nova Scotia, underscoring the multifaceted benefits of the space industry.

Stephen Matier, President and CEO of Maritime Launch Services, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the potential to excite future generations about space and STEM. "By supporting this STORIES of Space mission, we aim to ignite a passion for the space industry among young minds and demonstrate the broad possibilities of space research for commercial, government, and educational organizations," Matier stated.

Beth Mund, Founder and Executive Director of STORIES of Space, shared her excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing the power of storytelling in advancing space exploration. "Launching from Canada's first commercial spaceport allows us to share the stories of Canadians and global citizens alike, highlighting the role of narrative in inspiring advancements in space travel and STEM careers. Through our collective stories, we contribute to the exploration of space, and I'm thrilled that our partnership with Maritime Launch Services will further both human and scientific discovery," Mund remarked.
