Geespace, a growing force in China's burgeoning private space sector, has marked a significant milestone in the development of the Geely Future Mobility Constellation with the recent launch of eleven low-orbit satellites.
This initiative positions Geespace alongside global satellite communications giants like Iridium, Globalstar, Orbcomm, OneWeb, and SpaceX, underscoring its capabilities in independently constructing and managing a commercial satellite constellation. Remarkably, Geespace has distinguished itself as the sole entity in China to have achieved extensive constellation orbital deployments, a feat accomplished in 2023.
The Geely Future Mobility Constellation is the world's first commercial venture aimed at integrating communication, navigation, and remote sensing within a single satellite network. This novel approach aims to establish a comprehensive coverage system that supports a wide array of applications, from personal mobility solutions and intelligent connected vehicles to consumer electronics. The constellation's first orbital plane, comprising nine satellites, was successfully deployed in June 2022, demonstrating Geespace's commitment to advancing satellite technology.
A critical achievement for Geespace in 2023 was the initiation of mass production of satellite communications specifically designed for the automotive sector, marking a global first. By 2025, the company plans to complete the first phase of its constellation with 72 satellites, enabling global real-time data communication services.
The subsequent phase will expand the constellation to 168 satellites, offering centimeter-level high-precision positioning services, thereby providing highly reliable and cost-effective satellite services across various sectors.
The Geely Future Mobility Constellation is equipped with AI remote sensing functions, capable of delivering 1-5 meter high-resolution remote sensing imaging. This technology is expected to revolutionize ecological environment monitoring and offer versatile imaging solutions for diverse industries.
By providing global satellite IoT service capabilities, comparable to Iridium Next satellites, and incorporating Direct-to-Cell service akin to Starlink's V2 mini-satellites, the constellation ensures efficient satellite messaging and data transmission.
Geespace's strategic focus extends to supporting the "Belt and Road" initiative, fostering international cooperation through its innovative satellite services. This initiative aims to accelerate the commercialization, large-scale implementation, and global expansion of satellite applications, showcasing Geespace's commitment to enhancing global connectivity and technological advancement.
