Skylo Technologies, a leader in non-terrestrial network (NTN) services, has announced a collaboration with Anritsu Corporation. This partnership marks a strategic initiative to enable Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and third-party test houses to conduct Skylo-defined testing of NTN devices using Anritsu's sophisticated test platforms.
Skylo's mission to revolutionize connectivity, especially in remote and underserved areas, finds a strong ally in Anritsu. Dr. Andrew Nuttall, CTO and Co-Founder of Skylo, emphasized this, stating, "Skylo is committed to revolutionizing the way the world connects...Our partnership with Anritsu is a significant step towards ensuring that our customers and partners can get their devices certified on our network in the quickest, easiest ways possible."
Anritsu's advanced testing methodologies are set to play a vital role in this endeavor. The testing process, designed to rigorously assess each device's functionality, signal integrity, and Radio Frequency (RF) characteristics, aims to guarantee robust performance under diverse and challenging environmental conditions. Anritsu will cover several test areas, including device RF parametrics, Over-The-Air (OTA), Performance, Protocol Conformance, and RF Conformance.
The collaboration is not just about rigorous testing; it's also a testament to the growing importance of NTN in the telecommunications realm. Jonathan Borrill, CTO for Anritsu T&M, captures this sentiment, saying, "We are thrilled to partner with Skylo and contribute to its work in non-terrestrial networks...NTN is a key technology that has begun to revolutionize the world of telecommunications."
Anritsu's contribution to this field will be on full display at MWC 2024 in Barcelona. The company plans to demonstrate RF measurement of NTN NB-IoT using its MT8821C Radio Communication Analyzer. This demonstration is crucial, as it underlines the emerging trend of satellite "direct to device" communications, a rapidly growing aspect of the telecommunications industry.
The partnership between Anritsu and Skylo is not just a business collaboration; it's a forward-looking step in ensuring that devices operating within non-terrestrial networks meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. This move is particularly significant in the context of increasing reliance on satellite networks and IoT technologies for global connectivity.
