In a significant advancement for regional telecommunications, Globalsat Group has forged a strategic alliance with ARSAT (Empresa Argentina de Soluciones Satelitales Sociedad Anonima), a key player in the Argentine satellite communications sector. This partnership was officially announced last week at the ARSAT teleport in Benavidez, Buenos Aires province, marking the launch of a groundbreaking GEO Satellite Internet of Things (IoT) service.
Under this framework agreement, Globalsat Group, known for its robust satellite communication solutions across the Americas, will now market ARSAT's innovative GEO Satellite IoT connectivity solution. This venture extends to broadband satellite internet services for both residential and commercial sectors.
The newly unveiled satellite IoT service is a leap forward in bidirectional messaging capabilities for fixed and mobile applications. It utilizes a compact, easy-to-install terminal, revolutionizing communications with its low installation and maintenance costs, minimal power requirements, and expansive coverage across Argentina and beyond. This service integrates the cutting-edge technology of a lightweight HiSky terminal, which combines a satellite modem with a flat panel antenna, backed by ST Engineering iDirect's Hub technology.
Globalsat Group's CEO, J. Alberto Palacios, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, "Celebrating this strategic agreement with ARSAT consolidates the strategic alliance between Globalsat Argentina, the local subsidiary of Globalsat Group, and ARSAT, a significant player in regional telecommunications based in the southern country. Leveraging our respective strengths, Globalsat and ARSAT will jointly offer comprehensive solutions to customers in remote areas, allowing them to access satellite connectivity at very competitive rates, with the added value of our extensive expertise in providing mission-critical communications to thousands of customers in sectors such as energy, government, defense, media, mining, banking, agriculture, NGOs, and tourism, among others."
Palacios also emphasized the consortium's Latin American roots and its commitment to enhancing regional presence, particularly in Argentina.
Furthermore, Globalsat Group will leverage ARSAT's high-performance Ka-band satellite capacity (HTS) for broadband satellite internet connectivity. Initially, this service will be accessible in the mountainous region from Jujuy to Chubut via the Telstar-19 Vantage satellite, expanding soon to a nationwide coverage through the SES-17 satellite. This expansion is a precursor to the launch of ARSAT's own high-throughput HTS Ka-band satellite, ARSAT-SG1, which will boast a capacity of 70 Gbps.
Guillermo Rus, Vice President of ARSAT, commented on the new Satellite IoT product, featuring hiSky and ST Engineering iDirect technology, as a value addition to ARSAT's Ku-band geostationary satellite fleet, enabling tailored solutions for various market verticals.
Facundo Leal, President of ARSAT, also expressed enthusiasm about the agreement, underlining ARSAT's commitment to providing affordable satellite connectivity and bridging the digital divide in the country.
This alliance between Globalsat Group and ARSAT is poised to revolutionize connectivity in Argentina, offering advanced solutions in IoT and broadband services. It underscores the growing importance of satellite technology in overcoming geographical challenges and enhancing digital infrastructure in remote areas, thereby contributing significantly to the integration and economic development of the region.
