In a remarkable development in the Indian space industry, Pixxel, a prominent name in the realm of hyperspectral earth-imaging technology, has been awarded a substantial grant by iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence). The grant, furnished under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence, is part of the Mission DefSpace Challenge under iDEX Prime (Space). It will facilitate the production of miniaturized multi-payload satellites tailored for the needs of the Indian Air Force.

iDEX, through its SPARK grants, has enabled Pixxel to venture into the creation of compact satellites with an upper weight limit of 150 kg. The satellites, purpose-designed for Electro-Optical, Infrared, Synthetic Aperture Radar and Hyper Spectral missions, signify a significant achievement for Pixxel in their journey to disrupt the space industry.

Pixxel has already earned accolades for its role as a trailblazer in the sphere of space technology. It has been integral in the development and deployment of India's and the world's top-notch commercial hyperspectral imaging satellites. Now, by leveraging its proprietary technology, which promotes effortless manufacture, affordability, and ease of launch, Pixxel is poised to extend its manufacturing services to the Indian Defense sector.

On this remarkable achievement, Pixxel's CEO, Awais Ahmed, remarked, "We are delighted to receive iDEX's grant and utilize our expertise of building microsatellites in-house to manufacture satellites externally for the first time. This recognition highlights Pixxel's dedication to pushing the boundaries of space exploration and innovation. We are grateful for the trust placed in us and excited to embark on this next phase of collaboration with the Indian government."

Supporting the Pixxel's mission, Shri Vivek Virmani, Planning Officer, DDP/MoD and Chief Operating Officer, iDEX-DIO stated, "We are delighted to witness the remarkable evolution of startups in the Indian space industry, and Pixxel is a testament to the progress of private entities in this sector in such a short time. The grant is aimed at developing technologies addressing every stage of a space mission, right from mission planning and manufacturing to satellite data analytics and more."

He further added, "Our confidence in Pixxel's satellite manufacturing capabilities showcases the power of partnerships in advancing the use of satellite technology for the country. We congratulate Pixxel and look forward to working with them."

As part of iDEX (Prime) and DISC initiatives, the SPARK grants are tailored to kindle innovation and empower Indian inventors and entrepreneurs to deliver technologically superior solutions. The grants also aim to boost deep-tech innovations within India. Pixxel's award-winning, cutting-edge technology in hyperspectral satellite manufacturing set it apart from the competition, earning it the grant.

As Pixxel embarks on this new venture, it maintains an unwavering commitment to advancing satellite technology, charting new territory, and enabling industries worldwide to harness the power of space.
