Vast has revealed that SpaceX is slated to launch Vast Haven-1, anticipated to be the world's premier commercial space station. The launch, targeted for no earlier than August 2025, will be swiftly followed by two manned spaceflight missions to the station. A Falcon 9 rocket will propel Haven-1 into low-Earth orbit, where it will function as a fully independent space station before eventually joining a larger Vast station currently under development.
Following Haven-1's deployment, Falcon 9 will carry Vast's inaugural human spaceflight mission, Vast-1, to the commercial space station. The four-person crew aboard the Dragon spacecraft will dock with Haven-1 for up to 30 days in Earth's orbit. Additionally, Vast has secured an option for a subsequent human spaceflight mission to the station utilizing a Dragon spacecraft.
The Vast-1 crew selection process is in progress, with the final lineup to be disclosed at a later date. Once the crew is confirmed, SpaceX will deliver training on Falcon 9 and the Dragon spacecraft, covering emergency readiness, spacesuit and spacecraft ingress and egress procedures, as well as partial and full mission simulations, including docking and undocking for Earth return.
Vast's long-term vision involves the creation of a 100-meter-long multi-module spinning artificial gravity space station, launched via SpaceX's Starship transportation system. As part of this endeavor, Vast aims to carry out the first-ever spinning artificial gravity experiment on a commercial space station with Haven-1.
The groundbreaking partnership between Vast and SpaceX promises to foster and expedite increased accessibility to space and further opportunities for exploration, advancing the goal of establishing humanity as a multiplanetary species.
