Mars Institute

The Mars Institute is a non-profit research organization whose mission is to further the scientific study, exploration and public understanding of Mars. It is an international non-governmental organization. 

It is conducting high-quality, peer-reviewed research, and educating the public on the progress toward and benefits of Mars exploration.

 

It was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in both California, USA, and Canada in 2002.

SETI Institute

The mission of the SETI Institute is to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe. The acronym SETI means Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence.

The SETI Institute is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to scientific research, education and public outreach.

The Institute comprises three centers, the Center for SETI Research, the Carl Sagan Center for the Study of Life in the Universe and the Center for Education and Public Outreach. It was founded in 1984.

Esrange Space Center

Esrange Space Center (short form Esrange) is a rocket range and research centre located outside the town of Kiruna in northern Sweden.

It is a base for scientific research with high altitude balloons, investigation of the aurora borealis, sounding rocket launches, and satellite tracking, among other things. Located 200 km north of the Arctic Circle and surrounded by a vast wilderness, its geographic location is ideal for many of these purposes. 

It is operated by the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC).

ACSER

The Australian Centre for Space Engineering Research (ACSER) was launched at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in November 2010. The centre aims to assist in the Federal Government's push to increase Australia's capabilities in the space industry.

The centre will build on existing UNSW strengths of satellite navigation, earth observation, and hypersonics, and can draw on the huge expertise of Australia's largest Engineering faculty. UNSW is participating in five Australian Space Research Program (ASRP) projects.

RAL Space

RAL Space at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) is part of the Science and Technology Facilities Council.

RAL Space work alongside the UK Space Agency (UKSA) who co-ordinate UK civil space activities. RAL Space has around 200 staff who are dedicated to supporting the programmes of the Council and those of the other research councils; as well as undertaking a large number of contracts for agencies, industry and other commercial customers.

RAL Space provide research and technology development, space test facilities, instrument and mission design, and studies of science and technology requirements for new missions.

Committee on Space Research (COSPAR)

The Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) is a world-wide organisation promoting scientific research in space on an international level. 

COSPAR was established in 1958 by the International Council for Science .

Among COSPAR's objectives are the promotion of scientific research in space on an international level, with emphasis on the free exchange of results, information, and opinions, and providing a forum, open to all scientists, for the discussion of problems that may affect space research.

These objectives are achieved through the organization of symposia, publication, and other means. COSPAR has created a number of research programmes on different topics, a few in cooperation with other scientific Unions.

Southwest Research Institute (SwRI)

The Southwest Research Institute (SwRI),  is one of the oldest and largest independent, nonprofit, applied research and development (R&D) organizations in the USA. 

SwRI provides contract research and development services to government and industrial clients. Among several areas of activities, SwRI comptence cover Space Science and Engineering.

It is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, USA. It was founded in 1947.

Langley Research Center (LaRC)

Langley Research Center (LaRC) is the oldest of NASA's field centers, located in Hampton, USA.

It directly borders the Langley Air Force Base. LaRC focuses primarily on aeronautical research, though the Apollo lunar lander was flight-tested at the facility and a number of high-profile space missions have been planned and designed on-site.

Astronautic Technology Sdn Bhd

Astronautic Technology Sdn Bhd (ATSB) is a state-owned organisation focused on research and development in the area of design and development of space-qualified systems.

ATSB was entrusted with the design, development, launch and operation of TiungSAT-1, Malaysia's first microsatellite.

The technical expertise and experience gained in handling TiungSAT-1 served as a stepping stone for the second microsatellite, RazakSAT, which was successfully launched on 14 July 2009.

ATSB are also responsible for the installation and integration of several national infrastructure projects such as the Robotic Telescope.
