The UTIAS Space Flight Laboratory (UTIAS/SFL) is a reserach centre, part of the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS).

The UTIAS Space Flight Laboratory collaborates with business, government and academic institutions on spacecraft projects and the development of new space technologies. It has a focus on Microsatellite Systems.

The Swedish Institute of Space Physics (Institutet för rymdfysik, IRF) is a governmental research institute.

Its primary task is to carry out basic research, education and associated observatory activities in space physics, space technology and atmospheric physics. IRF has employees in Kiruna, Umeå, Uppsala and Lund. The main office is located in Kiruna in northern Sweden.

The Blue Marble Space Institute of Science is a non-profit virtual research institute.

The Keck Institute for Space Studies (KISS) is a joint institute of the California Institute of Technology and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory established in January 2008.

The primary purpose of the KISS is to develop new planetary, Earth, and astrophysics space mission concepts and technology by bringing together a broad spectrum of scientists and engineers for sustained scientific and technical interaction.

This unique organization links the study elements of a think tank with the implementation elements of designing and developing prototypes. The Institute also provides opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to actively participate in cutting edge space mission research and learning. The Institute supports significant outreach to the public and the wider technical/scientific community via open lectures and the Internet.

The Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON) is the Dutch expertise institute for space research.

The Institute develops and uses innovative technology for research in space, focusing on astrophysical research, Earth science and planetary research. SRON has a line of research into new and more sensitive sensors for X-rays and infrared radiation. SRON was founded in 1983 under the former names Stichting Ruimteonderzoek Nederland / Space Research Organisation Netherlands. SRON is part of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and has facilities in Utrecht and in Groningen.

The ESA's Centre in Harwell is a research centre located in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. Its focus is on three areas:

• ‘integrated applications’, which is the combined use of different space and terrestrial technologies, data and infrastructures to create new everyday applications;
• climate change modelling using data from space;
• and developing new technologies for the next era of planetary exploration, including robotics and innovative power sources that could be used on the Moon and Mars.

The Centre hosts the ESA Climate Office and also runs activities in the domains of Space Exploration. It supports the use of space technology in downstream domains through Integrated Applications, technology transfer activities and a Business Incubator.states.

The ESA research centre in the United Kingdom, opened on July 2009. It is based at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.

The ESA Harwell Centre is supporting as welll a Business Incubation Centre (BIC). It provides a unique opportunity for startup companies to access world class scientific facilities and research including that of the Diamond Light Source and STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) – home to its internationally renowned space science department RAL Space, the world’s most powerful pulsed neutron source ISIS and the Central Laser Facility.

The University of Central Florida, UCF, is a public research university located in the USA, in Orlando, Florida. 

The University of Central Florida opened in 1968 as Florida Technological University, with the goal of providing highly-trained personnel to support the Kennedy Space Center. the university's academic scope had expanded to encompass other disciplines, "Florida Tech" was renamed the University of Central Florida in 1978.

UCF is a space-grant university and has made noted research contributions in several scientific fields.

UCF has a satellite campus at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral.

the Center for Astrophysics at the University of Notre Dame (CANDU) is part of the Physics Department, which is in the College of Science at Notre Dame. Notre Dame is located in the USA, Northern Indiana near the city of South Bend.

The UCL Department of Space & Climate Physics, incorporating the Mullard Space Science Laboratory, Surrey, is one of the UK's largest university space science group and a leader in interdisciplinary space science initiatives.

The Florida Institute of Technology (commonly referred to as Florida Tech or FIT), is a private research university located in Melbourne, Florida, United States.
