Sunspace is a provider of small and medium-sized satellites and related systems and solutions to the local and international aerospace market.
SunSpace has its origins in the SUNSAT satellite programme. SUNSAT, South Africa's first satellite, was developed locally, and launched in 1999 by the American space agency NASA.

Microsat Systems Canada Inc. (MSCI) is a privately held Canadian corporation applying dynamics and control technology in the space market for reaction wheels, rate measurement units and complete microsatellites. Formerly the space division of Dynacon Inc., MSCI has been the premiere builder of microsatellites in Canada for over a decade.
MSCI is providing the design, development and delivery of cost-effective, adaptable Multi Mission Microsatellite Buses capable of hosting a wide variety of remote sensing, communications, scientific and military payloads. MSCI is active as well in systems engineering analysis, the development of sophisticated, cost-effective attitude control system solutions and their implementation into flight hardware and software.

A cornerstone in our philosophy is that “we fly what we sell” and therefore have our internal flight qualification program “GOMX” to demonstrate new products and capabilities in space and ensure flight heritage before, the products are commercialized. CubeSat
A CubeSat is a type of miniaturized satellite for space research that usually has a volume of exactly one liter (10 cm cube), has a mass of no more than 1.33 kilograms, and typically uses commercial off-the-shelf electronics components. Beginning in 1999, California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) and Stanford University developed the CubeSat specifications to help universities worldwide to perform space science and exploration.
The majority of development comes from academia, but several companies have built CubeSats, including large-satellite-maker Boeing. The CubeSat format is also popular with amateur radio satellite builders.
Surrey Satellite Technology - SSTL
Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd, or SSTL, is a spin-off company of the University of Surrey, now (July 2012) fully owned by EADS Astrium, that builds and operates small satellites.
Its satellites began as amateur radio satellites known by the UoSAT (University of Surrey SATELLITE) name, or by an OSCAR (Orbital Satellite Carrying Amateur Radio) designation. SSTL cooperates with the University's Surrey Space Centre, which does research into satellite and space topics.
SSTL has moved into remote sensing services with the launch of the Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC) and an associated child company, DMC International Imaging. SSTL also adopted the Internet Protocol for the DMC satellites it builds and operates, migrating from use of the AX.25 protocol popular in amateur radio. The CLEO Cisco router in Low Earth Orbit, on board the UK-DMC satellite along with a network of payloads, takes advantage of this adoption of the Internet Protocol. The UK-DMC satellite also carries a payload investigating GPS reflectometry.

Alliant Techsystems Inc., most commonly known as ATK, is one of the largest aerospace and defense companies in the United States with more than 18,000 employees in 22 states, Puerto Rico and internationally.
ATK is a pioneer in solid rocket propulsion systems, strategic missiles, missile defense, lightweight space deployables, solar arrays and satellite thermal management systems, while developing new technologies for small and micro satellites.
ATK’s human space capability includes solid rocket boosters, engineering services, astronaut tools and solar arrays. Its Reusable Solid Rocket Motors (RSRM) have been propelling the space shuttle since its beginning. In the commercial market ATK offers its Liberty Launch Vehicle, which includes a five-segment solid rocket first stage and liquid fueled upper stage to transport astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS). ATK is also developing the launch abort and attitude control motors for the Ares I Orion crew capsule, as well as the circular shape ultra-light solar arrays that will power the capsule.
Propulsion systems for strategic missiles and missile defense systems is a core capability. ATK provides all three stages for the Minuteman III and Trident II D-5 missiles. In the missile defense arena, ATK also provides all three stages for the Ground-based Missile Defense (GMD) system.
ATK’s involvement with Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) extends from launch vehicles to small and micro satellites. With ATK’s versatile product line of solid rocket motors, multiple launch vehicle configurations can be developed to support specific mission requirements.
The company’s small satellite capabilities include responsive development, constellation solutions, single-string and redundant avionics architectures. ATK also provides commercial boosters for the Delta rockets. The company is teamed with Lockheed Martin to provide the commercial Athena launch vehicle.
Virgin Galactic
Virgin Galactic is a company within Richard Branson's Virgin Group which plans to provide sub-orbital spaceflights to space tourists, suborbital launches for space science missions and orbital launches of small satellites.
Further in the future Virgin Galactic hopes to offer orbital human spaceflights as well. Virgin Galactic's spacecraft are launched from a large aeroplane, giving the spacecraft more initial speed and altitude than if it were launched from the ground.
