ONERA
ONERAĀ is a French aerospace research center.
It is a public establishment with industrial and commercial operations, and carries out application-oriented research to support enhanced innovation and competitiveness in the aerospace and defense sectors. ONERA is an acronym forĀ Office National d'Ćtudes et de Recherches AĆ©rospatiales.
Since January 2007 Onera was dubbed āThe French Aerospace Labā to enhance its international visibility, and also adopted a brand baseline, āReturn on Innovationā.
Onera carries out a wide range ofĀ researchĀ forĀ space agencies, as well as for the French defense procurement agency,Ā DGA. Onera also independently conducts its own long-term research to anticipateĀ future technologyĀ needs. It focuses onĀ scientific research, for example inĀ aerodynamicsĀ for concrete applications onĀ aircraft, the design of launchers and new defense technologies, such as drones (unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)).
Onera also uses its research andĀ innovationĀ capabilities to support both French and European industry. Oneraās customer-partners includeĀ EADSĀ (Airbus,Ā Eurocopter),Ā SafranĀ (Snecma,Ā Turbomeca,Ā Sagem),Ā Dassault Aviation,Ā Thalesand other major industry players. Innovative small businesses are also encouraged to call on the expertise of Oneraās scientists and engineers, and to take advantage ofĀ technology transferĀ opportunities.
Onera has contributed to a number of landmark aerospace and defense programs in recent decades, includingĀ Airbus,Ā Ariane,Ā Rafale,Ā Falcon,Ā MirageĀ andĀ Concorde.
