Axelspace Corporation has signed a multi-launch agreement with Exolaunch to support a series of missions using Axelspace microsatellites. The framework covers multiple launches and is intended to secure launch access and mission management for Axelspace programs, including new spacecraft assigned to in-orbit demonstration services.
Under the agreement, one satellite is scheduled to launch as part of the AxelLiner business in-orbit demonstration service known as AxelLiner Laboratory. In addition, Exolaunch has already booked launch opportunities for eight Axelspace satellites on upcoming missions, establishing a pipeline of flights for future deployments.
Axelspace operates AxelLiner Laboratory, or AL Lab, as a service focused on in-orbit demonstration of space components developed by customers. The service builds on AxelLiner's short development cycles and mass-production approach, aiming to provide flight opportunities for hardware that needs space-based testing.
In-orbit demonstrations are difficult to execute quickly because launch opportunities are irregular and the process from payload selection to liftoff can take several years. Japanese government space policies, including measures under the Space Strategic Fund, emphasize building a domestic satellite supply chain, which in turn is driving demand for timely in-orbit testing of new satellite components from Japan.
To address these constraints, Axelspace has structured AL Lab to respond to specialized needs for in-orbit demonstration, using the shorter development timelines and higher production rates enabled by AxelLiner. At the same time, the company identifies the task of securing launch slots that match required schedules and orbital parameters as a key operational risk as global demand for satellite launches increases.
"Axelspace is a trailblazer in Japan's space industry, and we are proud to support their ongoing satellite launch program through this new Multi-Launch Agreement," said Kier Fortier, Vice President of Global Business Development at Exolaunch. "With our global footprint, including Exolaunch Japan, and extensive flight heritage in delivering small satellites safely to orbit, we look forward to providing Axelspace with reliable global launch access and deep launch mission management expertise to support efficient, quick deployment of Axelspace's satellite constellation."
