Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) has announced that its software-defined SLM-5650B modem is the first sovereign-certified terminal to earn Government Terminal Certification (GTC) for operations on SES's O3b mPOWER Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite constellation.

The certification enables the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and coalition partners to deploy Comtech's modem on SES's high-throughput, low-latency O3b mPOWER system, delivering secure and reliable hybrid communications in difficult operational environments. By meeting the sovereignty and security requirements of defense customers, SES's approval expands access to mission-critical connectivity.

"This certification further demonstrates our satellite communications technology leadership, as well as the trust one of the world's largest satellite owners and space solutions providers, SES, continues to place in Comtech," stated Daniel Gizinski, President of Comtech's Satellite and Space Communications Segment. "Over 10,000 Comtech defense-grade modems are currently fielded - providing critical connectivity services to DoD and NATO customers today. As one of the leading U.S. manufacturers of sovereign modem technologies, we are thrilled to partner with SES to deliver new capabilities that will help U.S. DoD and coalition warfighters maintain an information advantage across all domains."

Developed and built at Comtech's headquarters in Chandler, Arizona, the SLM-5650B is a Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS)-certified modem that supports government and military missions. The modem operates with multiple DoD and NATO waveforms, including STANAG 4486 Ed3 (EBEM), Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS), and DVB-S2X. Its software-defined architecture allows for future waveform integration and expanded mission functionality.

The SLM-5650B and Comtech's broader defense technology portfolio are engineered to strengthen Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) operations. Designed for adaptability, these systems enable the modernization of digital SATCOM ground infrastructures essential for maintaining strategic advantages in today's dynamic threat environment.
