Spire Global, Inc. (NYSE: SPIR), a leading provider of space-based data and analytics, has secured a position on the U.S. Space Force's Space Systems Command Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract under the Space Test Experiments Platform (STEP) 2.0 program. This 10-year agreement has a total potential value of $237 million and forms part of the Department of Defense's broader Space Test Program.

As one of 12 companies awarded the STEP 2.0 contract, Spire will be eligible to compete for task orders to design, build, integrate, and operate satellite buses that support experimental payloads. These platforms are intended to enable rapid deployment and on-orbit testing of new space technologies over the life of the contract.

The STEP 2.0 initiative aims to simplify the testing of space-based systems by leveraging commercial satellite platforms to provide standardized, adaptable buses capable of hosting a wide range of sensors and instruments. It facilitates faster access to space through commercial rideshare launches and supports both orbital and space station-based experiments. The program builds on the legacy of the original Space Test Experiments Platform, which has conducted over 300 missions to validate emerging space technologies.
